The celebrated first-century BCE architect and engineer Vitruvius noted in his work "De Architectura" that buildings should possess three critical elements: strength, utility, and beauty. This superb modern interior within a c.1945s Colonial Revival is an example of what happens when all three elements collaborate harmoniously to create a residence that is comfortable and elegant.

Offering more than 4,400 square feet of impeccably finished living space, the owners created a fine and spacious composition which was respectful of the original ethos of the house. They created a completely new interior with a reconfigured and logical floor plan, while undertake a full renovation that encompassed installing new plumbing, electrical, mechanical, windows, doors, etc.

Every room was carefully considered, and the fixtures and finishes were chosen to reflect the best of contemporary styling without sacrificing the modesty that made post-war residential architecture feel dignified yet approachable. The outdoor spaces offer areas for entertaining and have been as carefully curated as the interiors.

The house is sited on an eminence which affords a view of the surrounding parklike setting. While the house occupies a quiet location, it is close to downtown Silver Spring and the Capital Beltway.
